I'm very pleased, you've got interested in my program!
What is StarCalc?
As a whole, StarCalc is a variant of computer planetarium, which draws on
screen and prints sky charts for any moment and from any place on the Earth.
Furthemore, it has some other additional facilities, for example receit of
the current data about any visible object, i.e.
I have not yet provided my product with the Help, because it's too much
bother for me to do it ;-), so please find below several notes on some
hidden possibilities of the program:
- in order to select an object just click a mouse on it, after double
click you will see the window with a full data about this object.
- the easiest way to rotate a picture along the azimuth is to click
the mouse left button and drag it at any place of the image, but if
you wish to turn the image around by a certain angle click the mouse
right button and choose a line of a popup menu accordingly.
- on the fast computer after the input of the required image rotation
step (to be set at the same place as the observation moment) press and
hold down CTRL+F (CTRL+B) and you will enjoy the effect of sky rotation
even with constellation boundaries preserved. If the step of rotation is
equal to 24 star hours cycle you can see how planets, the Sun, i.e. move
along the sky sphere.
- the program can rotate the sky automatically with the different speed both
forward and backward. To get the sky image according to the real one at the
current moment, you can first set the speed of rotation "x1", then set current
time and turn on autorotation mode.
- the image adjustment toolbar can be made "auto hide" in order to save screen
space. For this purposes please select "Auto hide toolbar" in the menu. In
this case the toolbar will appear, if you move the mouse cursor to the bottom
of the main program window.
as for the rest of my program, I think, you will unserstand it yourself without
problem.
Installation notes:
Installation of the program in the operation system can be executed by the usual
procedure: copy content of archive to a temporary folder and start setup.exe.
However, you may just copy archive files to any folder, start StarCalc.exe and
everything should work without problem.
Program requirements:
works on any computer under Windows95, OSR2 and NT4.0
Co-processor optional and the program works well, for example, on 486SX-33
(for the test purposes I run it even on 386DX). And in case with the Pentiums
everything flys excellently. Just try it!
